Claw Torn Skies
Alona Bay is a spectacular location along the shore of Lake Superior, resonating with a mystical interplay of the elements and raw energy of an inland sea trapped in geologic time. On an early trip on the bay I watched an incoming storm building on the horizon and heading at speed for the patch of ground where I was sketching. The dark, sculpted layers of threatening clouds were breathtakingly charged with deep, rich raw power. Below and behind these layers light broke through, though I was well drenched by heavy rains before the sun reached my patch of shore.
